Moving, rocking, and nursing – it’s all happening at Punch!

Never ceasing to amaze – look what some of our Peeps are up to these days…

First, we’ve got some new members who need a warm welcome – be sure to introduce yourself to our new Peeps: welcome Marissa Watson, Kristen Ardito, as well as both Kelsey Potrykus and Adrian Gutowski who trained with us during the college break.  Also, Pippin Friden is in the Cross-Country off-season, and is now back training with us to get stronger for next season.

No shortage of action in the Friden household – Petra Friden has been recruited to play soccer at Smith College. She’s been a rock-star on the field at Weston High, not to mention at Punch, so now she’s ready to take it to the college level. A great feat, using her great feet – congrats, Petra!

Stacy Kontarines became a grandmother to a beautiful baby girl named Iris!  Wow -- enjoy every moment, Stacy!

It doesn’t seem that long ago that Isabella Rincon stepped into Punch as she started studying to become a nurse – and now, when she's not getting a hand (or a back) with her pull-ups, she's helping others at her first nursing job at Bridgeport Hospital. We’ve all seen what a hard worker she is – Bridgeport Hospital – and its patients – are lucky to have her on the team.  Congrats, Isabella!

And congratulations to Colleen Pickwick who married Kevin McIlwain October 14th on Martha’s Vineyard – we wish you a lifetime of happiness, Colleen!

And another congratulations is due – Carina Reid has earned “The 2017 President’s Volunteer Service Award” for her special commitment to Disaster Services. WOW! Just WOW! Our friend works with the Stamford EMS, and anyone who has worked out with Carina understands the positive energy and commitment she brings to all she does. Plus, she provides some of the best Facebook posts on the Punch Peeps page.  We are so lucky to have you as part of our crew, Carina; we appreciate all you do every day, and it’s great to know the nation does, too.

If you heard a loud sigh of relief (and a whiff of BENGAY) earlier this month, it likely came from Kevin Vallerie who juggled closing with buyers on his old house, a move into storage and his family into his in-laws' home, closing on his new house, and then another move into that new home.  And all during the snow and the ice, and a busy time of year at work. But, as though he’s clicked his heels three times and said it, “There’s no place like home.” Good luck with the new home, Kevin.

Rock out! Did you know we have some working musicians in the house? Steve DeFala plays sax and will be performing with The Ritzy Chickens February 3rd at Peaches in Norwalk, as well as with Superband for a Pink Floyd tribute March 3rd at The Acoustic in Black Rock. And Gene Tiernan is drummer with a band called The Adults – you can check them out at a one-hour all-originals showcase at MKT: Market Bistro in Norwalk February 22nd, and at Veracious Brewery in Monroe March 3rd – family-friendly, 6-9pm. Come out and support local live music!

And, our own owner of Punch and Tyson, Stef Tropea completed the StrongFirst Iron Maiden Challenge comprised of three events: a strict military press, a strict tactical pullup, and a pistol (24kg).  While you’re more likely to hear Iron Maiden when Mike’s controlling the Pandora downstairs, earning the Iron Maiden Challenge title was all Stef.
Got stuff going on in your life you’d like to share? Let Stef know and you just might see yourself in our next newsletter!
