Celebrate with Belles!

Battle of the Belles IX Strongwoman Competition – bigger, better, bolder – brilliant!

It just keeps getting better every year – our contribution to our community that creates a community of its own.
There’s no more appropriate way for us to support the great work done by the folks at Paint The Town Pink of Stamford than to do what we do best – inspire each other to be our best, to be strong.
This is our ninth year of Punch hosting the Battle of the Belles competition, sanctioned by Strongman Corporation. It was a cold Autumn morning October 21stat Cranbury Park Pavilion, but we warmed our hearts by cheering each other on throughout competition with some of the strongest ladies in the country. 50 ladies joined in the competition and the energy from the crowd pushed everyone to their best – with many personal bests exceeded by huge amounts! Events included: giant dumbbell clean and press for reps, barbell and axle deadlift medley for reps, yoke walk/keg carry medley, sandbag carry for distance, and sandbag load over bar.
Among competitors from all over, many of our own Punch Peeps competed at their highest levels, including Robyn Goldenberg, Lorraine Barcello Lorusso, April Sugarman Fraleigh, Selena Kuo-McCaul, Kerry Coyne Gilbertson, and Lillian Buzzeo Tropea. Plus, we were able to lend our congratulations to two of our Peeps who placed first in events – Meredith Coogan and Elise Brzoska! Just amazing!!
It takes months of planning, training, and support to make this event happen each year, and it is no small feat. We cannot thank enough the people who stepped up to lend their hands to set things up, make them run, and wrap it all up at the end.
First let’s thank our volunteers, including: Cheryl Gal, Kathleen Whelan, Allie Babin, Laura Moughty, Jessica Edwards, Aaron Gerard, and Sade and Arielle Bernadel. Plus, we thank Abby and Owen Fraleighfor leading us all in beautifully singing our national anthem, as well as Todd Giorgi for serving as our emcee.
Also, our judges maintained great focus to credit the hard work of our competitors, and also took the time to share their expertise to help competitors improve for the future. We cannot thank enough Matt Mills, Joe Tropea, Kevin Vallerie, Justin Fisher, and Kevin Cronin.
We couldn’t make this happen without the help of our sponsors, and so I implore you to support their businesses however you may, as they support us. Our sponsors include Rye Ridge Deli, Untangled LLC, Balanced Zen, Strategy Leaders, Lewis School of Driving, Fashion Nails and Spa, Fem & Fierce, NY Strong, Gevolution Fitness, The Crazy Cat Ladies of PAWS, and Grooming by Gabe.
And, of course, thanks to our own Mike Mastell, who gives more to us than we could ever repay.  Always the first to arrive, the last to leave, the voice of support, the hand of guidance, and the driver of the U-Haul. Thank you, Mike.
Always an exhausting yet rewarding undertaking. Thanks to all for making Battle of the Belles IX such a success – we were delighted to raise some money for the good people at Paint The Town Pink of Stamford, who inspire us as much as the Belles themselves.
We hope to see everyone at the event next year – Battle of The Belles X is scheduled for October 6, 2019. And with your participation as a competitor, sponsor, volunteer, or supporter, it’s going to be the greatest one ever!
